Sudan: Egypt Backs Referendum Of Optional Unity October 19, 2010 Egypt supports holding a referendum that leads to the voluntary and optional unity of Sudan, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said Oct. 19, Xinhua reported. According to Sudanese Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Abdul Rahim Hussein, Mubarak expressed Egypt’s full support for achieving peace, stability and development in Sudan.
