China: Relations With Southern Sudan To Continue - Officials October 14, 2010 China will continue to boost ties with Southern Sudan after a referendum in January on secession from Sudan, Bloomberg reported Oct. 14, citing Du Yanling, director-general in the international department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. A delegation of Communist Party of China officials met Southern Sudanese leaders on Oct. 14 in Juba. Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Deputy Secretary-General Anne Itto said her region will continue to respect Chinese interests there; the two sides are studying Chinese investment in energy, infrastructure, agriculture and services, she said. The SPLM and the Chinese Communist Party have strong relations, Du said.
