India: China, Pakistan Are Cause For Concern - Army ChiefOctober 15, 2010 Terrorism infrastructure on the border with Pakistan, as well as China’s military ascension, is cause for concern in India, Indian army chief V.K. Singh said Oct. 15, The Times of India reported. In Pakistan, governance is the problem, as a certain amount of support is given to terrorists, a situation that could adversely affect India, Singh said. China’s military and economic rise is likewise problematic for India, Singh added. Though conventional wars with the two countries are “highly unlikely” to occur, skirmishes may arise, Singh said. According to Singh, Indian armed forces should have both conventional capability and the capability to respond in a nuclear environment. |
