China: Asia Security Initiative Supported October 11, 2010 Regional peace, stability and prosperity can be obtained by building a relevant security mechanism, Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie told Nong Duc Manh, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, China Daily reported Oct. 11. The Chinese military wants mutual trust and cooperation with Vietnam’s armed forces, Liang stated during a meeting with Vietnam’s Deputy Defense Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh, who said common interests should be identified to avoid a war of words. Liang also met his Vietnamese counterpart, Phung Quang Thanh. Liang was accompanied by a high-level Chinese military delegation.
